Making your own vinaigrette is super easy and much better for you.  Get in the habit of making your own dressing and both your wallet and your health will benefit from it.  And, it taste so much fresher and better without all the added chemicals and stabilizers etc.

Start with one basic recipe and add different seasoning to change it up.  Here are some of my favorites:

Note:  your dressing is only as good as the quality ingredients you put in it.

Shake or whisk ingredients thoroughly.

Basic Vinaigrette

4 TBS oil (avocado oil, olive oil, grape seed oil)

2 TBS vinegar (white, champaign, red, apple cider)

1/4 – 1/2 tsp real sea salt

freshly ground pepper to taste (triple pepper blend is my favorite)

Mustard Vinaigrette

to basic vinaigrette add…

1 tsp dijon mustard

1 tsp raw honey

Creamy Vinaigrette

to basic vinaigrette add…

2 TBS organic whole milk Greek yogurt from pasture raised cows

optional – add 1/4 tsp garlic powder and pinch of oregano

Asian Vinaigrette

to basic vinaigrette (skip the salt) and add…

1 TBS Soy Sauce or Tamari (this has plenty of salt so skip adding salt to the basic recipe)

1 tsp toasted sesame oil

1 TBS raw honey

1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Optional:

1 tsp grated fresh ginger

1 tsp pressed garlic

You can change our the lighter vinegars for vinaigrette made with Lemon juice, Balsamic vinegar or my favorite Walnut oil.

Lemon Vinaigrette

to basic vinaigrette (using lemon juice instead of vinegar) add…

1/4 tsp dijon mustard

1/4 tsp oregano

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp raw honey – optional

Balsamic Vinaigrette

to basic vinaigrette (using balsamic vinegar instead of the lighter vinegars) add…

1 tsp dijon mustard

1/4 tsp garlic powder

Note:  Aged Balsamic is the best!  Sweet and delicious.

Wanut Apple Vinaigrette

to basic vinaigrette…

Use walnut oil instead of the oils listed above

Use Apple cider vinegar

1 tsp. finely chopped shallots

1 tsp. raw honey

So give some of these recipes a try.  Play around with them and make your own creations.  Let us know how you do.  If your salads are more interesting, maybe you’ll eat more of them.  I recommend at least one large salad per day.

Be blessed in whole health!
