Energy Bars

Many energy bars are nothing but glorified candy bars, white flour, hfcs, processed fats, little fiber, and highly processed soy protein.  Check your labels.  Instead, opt for a homemade trail mix with dried fruit, nuts, seeds and yes, even a little bit of dark chocolate chips.

Vitamin Drinks and Sports Drinks

Most soft drinks have way too much sugar!

A small 12 oz Gatorade has about 8 teaspoons sugar.  Vitamin water has 13g of sugar for an 8oz serving – but that’s only ½ the bottle.  Who drinks ½ of the bottle? No artificial colors here but maybe try Vitamin Water Zero, sweetened with stevia.  Also try making Iced tea, brewed fresh, with a squeeze of citrus or added berries, or just infuse plain purified water with fruit.

Fat Free Foods

Manufacturers take out the fat, but have to replace it with something else, know what that is?  – Sugar and other harmful artificial flavors and enhancers.  Besides, we need natural wholesome fats in our diets particularly for brain health.  Stay away from processed fat free foods all together.  Instead, eat real foods in their natural forms, like organic peanut butter, which shouldn’t be fat free as seen in your market.

Salad Dressing

Bottled dressings contain too much sugar, too much table salt and highly processed damaged fats just to name a few.  Instead, make your own salad dressing.  It’s as simple as ¼ cup of oil, 2 TBS apple cider vinegar, ¼ tsp real sea salt, 1 tsp raw honey.  Or check out my homemade ranch dressing made with real ingredients.

Habits That Will Sabotage Your Heath

Of course we all know that smoking and not exercising can contribute to poor health?  But did you know:

Not eating your vegetables has major consequences as well – particularly Diabetes, Heart Disease and Cancer.

Stop being so picky.  You’re an adult now.  You know veggies are good for you.  Eat them at every meal.  Make half your meals consist of vegetables.  So, instead of a burger and French fries (sorry, French fries don’t count as a healthy vegetable in my book) have your burger with a large side-salad.  Skipping the white bun is even better.  Wrap your burger in lettuce leaves instead.

Also, Not being able to distinguish what is a snack and what is a treat can get you in trouble as well.

Snacks should offer nutrition – healthy fats, protein and fiber – so that leaves out potato chips, cookies, organic cheddar bunnies or a candy bar – hmm Snickers satisfies?  No, it will make you sick.  Instead, choose a piece of fruit with nut butter or nuts and seeds.

Making simple changes can make a dramatic shift in your health.  Say yes today to a healthier lifestyle.  That means more energy and less sickness to do the things you love to do.  Join our community of people that want to kick tail with you!

Be blessed in whole health!
